A DAUGHTER’S First HOme BECOMES HER PARENTS DREAM HOME: a historically modern bungalow to Stay Young in

Parents will do alot for their kids, but buying the home that their daughter had lived in for 8 years was never a consideration until grandchildren came into the picture. These homeowners gave up everything to move closer to their new grandchildren when their daughter and her spouse needed a bigger home for two adopted children - a place with a big yard, room to grow and room for the kids to grow, and plenty of storage for all the trappings of having kids.

And thus began an 8 year renovation project that started with a kitchen remodel and ended up with a home that became a showcase in their neighborhood. Throughout those years, the house has gone through several different floor plans, several different exterior designs, an ever- and still evolving interior design, and one very exasperated husband. But perseverance paid off when this home was chosen to be featured in Architectural Digest. When all is said and done, this 115 year old bungalow has been restored to its former glory - all new mechanicals, new custom barnwood flooring, exposed and restored shiplap ceilings, new crown molding and custom trim treatments throughout and antique glass resourced locally and re-installed in the Czech made windows kept the historic nature of the home alive and well. But the new bathrooms, new kitchen, new open-concept floor plan, modern lighting and modern plumbing fixtures and carefully planned storage throughout the house along with a dramatic interior design makeover has given this home a new, modern lease on life.

With so many features contemplated and executed and revamped over the years, this home has become a showcase not only for the homeowners, but also for LeavittHaas - who worked tirelessly with the homeowners over the 8 years to rehabilitate this wonderful home on a very tight budget and doing each project in stages so that the homeowners never had to borrow money to make this their dream home.
